Columbus hot sauce company closes two locations

A former North Market Downtown vendor has shuttered both of its retail spaces.

According to Mike Laviolette, owner of the Columbus hot sauce maker and vendor Flavor & Fire, the company closed both of its storefronts. One was located in the North Market Downtown, and the other was located in Westerville.

“We closed [the Westerville store] due to lack of sales. We closed the North Market store because of that as well, but also to concentrate on co-packing and private labeling at our production facility at 285 Old County Line Rd., STE A, Westerville,” he told 614Now.

The concept, which sold a number of Columbus-themed hot sauces and sauces from a variety of other local and Ohio hot sauce producers, opened in the North Market in 2019, and launched its Westerville space in the summer of 2024.

Customers are still able to order online and can pick up their sauces at Flavor & Fire’s production facility on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. And don’t rule a North Market return out completely, either.

“We have had an offer from the North Market to come back after the construction is complete, and will consider that offer at that time,” Laviolette said.
