Columbus’ oldest ice cream brand opening new location next month

The rapid expansion of Johnson’s real Ice Cream continues, as the brand announced its newest storefront will open next month.

Johnson’s second Powell location to open in the last two months will hold its grand opening on April 17. It will even be offering single single scoops of ice cream at the new location from 6-9 p.m., and the first 50 customers will receive a free 75th anniversary shirt.

The new Johnson’s Real Ice Cream storefront is located at 50 S. Liberty St.

“We’re excited to expand further in Powell and continue sharing our family’s ice cream with even more of the community,” Matt Wilcoxon, president of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, said in a press release. “As we celebrate 75 years of serving up smiles, we’re grateful for the support of our customers and eager to create new memories for generations to come.”

Johnson’s opened its first store in Bexley in 1950. Once its new Powell location opens, the concept will operate eight storefront, many of which opened in the last year.
