Columbus Thai hotspot reopens in Brewery District
Basil Thai is back.
According to Rhome Rhuanphe, owner of the Columbus Thai eatery that’s featured a handful of iterations over the last several years, the concept has relaunched in the kitchen of his new retro-themed Brewery District bar, VHS Social Club, which is located at 520 S. Front St.
Basil, which has multiple locations previously (including one in Upper Arlington’s Golden Bear Center), most recently opened as a carryout and delivery space at 460 Front St., but this closed last year.

“Now that Front Street has opened again, it’s time we started bringing traffic back to normal, getting some dine-in, getting some people that come to that little pocket that used to be so vibrant,” Rhuanphe said. “I think this a great option for people, especially with it being so close to places like Cobra and Law Bird.”
The new Basil Kitchen will offer pickup and delivery, but can also be enjoyed in VHS Social Club, which is how Rhuanphe originally envisioned the concept would function when he decided to reopen it.
He noted the VHS version of Basil won’t feature the brand’s full menu, but should still offer plenty of classic Thai dishes for hungry patrons.
