‘Come by for our last full week of kitchen service;’ local cafe announces changes to come due to economy
This could be your last week to grab a Gary’s Slamwich or Pambazo.
Two Dollar Radio Headquarters, the made-from-scratch vegan cafe located on Parsons Ave. near German Village, announced that the “not great economy this summer and fall” has forced them to “recalibrate our approach” and “come to terms with the reality that things will not be returning to how they were before the pandemic.”
The local cafe, which is known for its indie book selection, delicious coffee and cocktails, open mic nights, and of course, their brunch, lunch, and dinner, said they never anticipated their vegan food to become so popular when they first opened in 2017. All of their faux meat and cheese substitutes are made from scratch, which “requires a great deal of effort and ingredients,” they said on Facebook.

As a result, this is the last full week that the kitchen will operate in its current form.
“Between Christmas and New Year’s, we will serve brunch service on a few select days (schedule forthcoming!), but starting Friday, January 2nd we will turn our focus more to books, coffee, cocktails, and events,” they said.
In the New Year, a small section of toasted sandwiches, wraps, pastries, and grab-and-go food items will be offered each day they’re open. This will be “more in line with our original, much more modest intentions for food service,” they said. But staying true to who they are, these new food options will still be all made from scratch.
Don’t let the end of their full kitchen service stop you from coming in! Their coffee, books, and community events are equally as wonderful.
