Convenience store serving some of America’s favorite hoagies announces opening date of first-ever Ohio store

Sheetz’ biggest competitor is making their way to the Ohio market this spring.
Wawa, the Pennsylvania-based, national gas station and made to order food concept—announced its plan to bring approximately 60 different locations to the Buckeye State over the next 8-10 years, with 8 of them planned to open this year.
While it’s been a slow process, the wait is over. The first Ohio location is set to open April 16, according to a Wawa press release. You’ll have to make the trek out to Liberty Township, at 7198 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd. to enjoy the full Wawa experience for now.

You might be wondering what could make a gas station/convenience store so popular. Sure, Wawa is a one-stop shop for gas and snacks, but people also love their high-quality coffee and made-to-order hoagie sandwiches. It’s considered a “boutique” gas station, if that makes sense, and it’s a rite of passage to stop into one on a road trip.
Coffee options included iced mochas, matcha lattes, and much more, and a variety of sandwiches ranging from meatball subs to ham hoagies and roasted vegetable sandwiches are offered until late at night. Breakfast sandwiches are also available!
National publications claim that Wawa serves the best made-to-order sandwiches in America, with Philadelphia Magazine and The Washington Post discussing their love of Wawa’s hoagies on multiple occasions.
“We are excited to fly into Ohio and bring our unique combination of fresh food and beverage, convenience and service to this state for the very first time,” Wawa President Brian Schaller said in a press release.
The first Wawa will employ around 35 people, but ultimately, Wawa said they’re bringing 1,200 more jobs to Ohio. Unfortunately, there’s still no news of a Wawa coming to Franklin County anytime soon.
