Downtown-area BBQ restaurant to close for ‘next couple of months,’ reopen as new concept

For at least the next few months, the smell of woodsmoke in the air over Columbus’ Discovery District will be gone.

According to an email from the ownership team of Pecan Penny’s Bar-B-Q, the Downtown-area eatery plans to close for the next “couple of months” while it undergoes renovations. When it opens again, it will do so as a “bold new concept.”

It’s unclear what the name of the new eatery will be, what kind of food it will serve and when it will open. Pecan Penny’s statement noted that the new concept will represent a “complete transformation.”

Pecan Penny’s, which is located at 113 E. Main St., will close on Oct. 30.

“The memories we’ve created together will always hold a special place in our hearts. We’re even more excited about what’s to come and can’t wait to welcome you back to experience our new vision,” the restaurant’s statement reads. “Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for being part of our story.”
