Elevated farm-driven restaurant opening in historic Central Ohio clocktower

A new restaurant coming this summer is paying homage to the city’s past, and the future of food.
In 1902, a giant clock built by the same company in charge of the famous Independence Hall clock in Philadelphia was built on a bustling corner in Plain City. And about 123 years later, the Clocktower is getting a new life as an elevated restaurant.

Aptly named “The Clocktower Kitchen + Bar,” this new chef-driven restaurant was born from a passion for community and cuisine by co-founders Benjamyn Greig, Shane Whitacre, and Chelsea Whitacre. The restaurant’s website explains that they all have decades of shared experience in hospitality, leadership, and event operations. Greig served as Director of Operations at High Bank Distilling Co., and the Whitacres own Chef’s Table Columbus, a local catering company.
They’re excited to create a space that encompasses a respect for the local food grown right here in Central Ohio.
The Clocktower will offer a dynamic food & beverage program, focused on elevated, American cuisine made with as many local ingredients as possible, and they’ll also operate an event venue upstairs, for intimate wine dinners, weddings, and private culinary collaborations.
An outdoor biergarten with twinkling lights will also be an addition to the already-charming space.
The Clocktowner is set to open this summer, according to their website. Stay tuned for that opening date!
