‘Excellent, excellent pizza:’ Dave Portnoy gives huge score to Columbus-style pizzeria

While it wasn’t the 8.1 that marks the highest score any Columbus-area pizza place has ever received (shared by Sexton’s Pizza, Emelio’s Restaurant and Artisan Pizza Cafe), Iacono’s Pizza & Restaurant’s Powell location came close in a recent review.

Yesterday, Dave Portnoy’s One Bite Pizza Review posted its review of Iacono’s Powell storefront, which is located at 9303 Dublin Rd. He gave the longtime pizza spot a 7.9.

“As good as you can make in this style. Excellent, excellent pizza,” said Portnoy, who is famously not a fan of Columbus-style (or tavern-style) pizza. “This is as good as you can get for a tavern, Chicago-style. Light, crispy, cooked the right way…This could have been an 8.1.”
