Fast-growing New Haven-inspired pizza concept lands first permanent home

Bobby Jo’s Pizza held its first ever pop-up in late March of this year, and the popular concept has already found a permanent home.
According to owner and longtime Columbus chef Danny Phillips, Bobby Jo’s will be taking over the kitchen of Donerick’s Pub, which they will transform into their own space after renovations.
Donerick’s is located at 5225 N. High St. The eatery plans to open in late August, before the first Ohio State football game.

“I owe this to the city, they put us on and believed in us, loved what we did,” Phillips said. “Everything was so organic we never paid for ads or anything. It just feels awesome to give to the city and to have the city give back to you.”
As Donnerick’s serves as a prominent Philadelphia Eagles bar, Bobby Jo’s plans to introduce a Philly Cheesesteak Pizza called the Tush Push Pizza, named after the Eagles’ infamous short-yardage play. The new location will also be adding sandwiches and 14-inch pizzas (they currently only offer 12-inch pies).
As Phillips has roots in Columbus’ Hilltop neighborhood he hopes to soon launch a Bobby Jo’s food truck that will be regularly located on the West Side as well.
