Feelin’ cheesy? 614feast names the absolute best mac & cheese dishes in Columbus

Mac and cheese is the pinnacle of comfort food. It’s gooey, cheesy, and endlessly customizable. From smoked brisket toppings to lobster-filled decadence (and even a vegan version that’ll make you double-check there’s no dairy), these five spots prove there’s a perfect bowl for every craving. Here are five of my favorite mac and cheeses in Columbus:
Hoggy’s BBQ (830 Bethel Rd.)
This legendary mac and cheese can be served two ways: as a side dish topped with corn muffin breadcrumbs, or as the base of a fully loaded Mac Bowl. The Mac Bowl is mac and cheese piled high with smoked meat (like brisket) and your choice of toppings. The mac itself is a family recipe featuring a unique blend of cottage cheese, sour cream, and house-made queso for a flavor and texture you won’t forget.
COLO Market & Oyster Bar (multiple)
Located in both North Market Downtown and North Market Bridge Park, they serve some of the best Lobster Mac & Cheese in town. The lobster is incredibly fresh, and there’s a good chance they supply your favorite local spot; so why not go straight to the source? Their version features a smoked cheddar cheese sauce infused with lobster butter, topped with butter-poached lobster for a decadent finish.

101 Craft Kitchen (multiple)
If you’re craving a no-nonsense, definition of comfort-food mac and cheese, 101 Craft Kitchen delivers. Their version is ultra-creamy, made with a six-cheese house mornay sauce, mini penne, and toasted breadcrumbs for a little crunch. Want to make it extra special? Add a protein like filet mignon or jumbo shrimp—you won’t regret it.

Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse (89 E. Nationwide Blvd.)
This family‑owned steakhouse has seven locations spread across a few states with some truly amazing mac and cheese. Their Baked Macaroni and Cheese features six imported cheeses, baked with breadcrumbs on top until it forms a golden-brown crust. It’s creamy and satisfying, but still has a little crunch for the perfect texture balance.

Pierogi Mountain (105 N. Grant Ave.)
Yes, there’s feast-worthy vegan mac. Their Vegan Mac ‘n Cheese uses creamy plant-based sauce tossed with penne, and it’s topped with vegan kielbasa, diced tomatoes, green onions, and toasted panko breadcrumbs. It’s so good, you’ll forget there’s no meat or dairy involved.
