Fights break out at food festival for 2nd straight year, ending event early and implementing age restrictions
For the second straight year, the Columbus Taco Festival has been plagued by fights.
On Saturday, fights broke out at the event (which was held May 24-25 at Goodale Park), causing it to shut down at 8 p.m. May 24, instead of 10 p.m., which was the intended end time for the event.
When Taco Fest reopened the following day, it did so as a 21-and-up event, which it had not previously been.

“We know this may impact some of your plans, and trust us, we didn’t want to make this change. We’re doing our best to keep the event safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone,” a statement from the Taco Fest social media pages following the age restrictions reads. “Thank you for your understanding and we’re so grateful for the community that continues to support us and enjoy the festival responsibly!”
Last year, after fights broke out (to the tune of three in 10 minutes), Taco Fest reopened for its second day as an 18-and-up event.
