Jack McLaughlin

Whether you’re cherishing it with a special someone, or cursing the name of love itself, it’s hard to make your mark in a unique on Valentine’s Day. Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up some of the most original local offers to make sure your February is 14 is not wanting for or originality.

Cheryl’s Cookies
Tabasco Sauce collaboration cookies

While this one is technically not local anymore, Cheryl’s is Columbus-born, and widely recognized in the Arch City. For Valentine’s Day, they’ve decided to turn up the heat. But in a weird way. They’ve partnered with Tabasco to release hot-sauce inspired cookies that are buttercream-frosted.

Columbus Zoo & Aquarium
Penguin-tines and Name a Superworm

Whether you’ve loved or lost, the Zoo has you covered with two unique Valentine’s Day offerings. As one option, you can submit a love letter on a heart (called a Penguin-tine) that a penguin will use to make their nest. If you’re feeling the rage instead, you can also name a superworm after your ex (or whomever) that will be fed to a sloth. Both options will receive a video as well.

CRMD
Heartbreak Vanilla

Ice cream is great for a first date, but if your heart is as cold as the frozen treat, CRMD has just the thing for you. The Central Ohio ice cream shop is returning its Heartbreak Vanilla flavor starting Feb. 14, which is dyed black.

They’ll also be playing “I Hate My Ex” and “Single and Ready to Mingle” in their Lewis Center speakeasy on Valentine’s Day.

The Pickle Lodge
Pickleball Wedding

If your love of pickleball is as strong as your love for your partner, one Butler County (it’s a bit of a drive, but still) pickleball facility will host a free pickleball-themed wedding. To enter the Perfect Giveaway, draft a short story about your partner, yourself and pickleball and submit it to The Pickle Lodge by Feb. 14. The winning couple—of a totally-free wedding— will be announced on Feb. 28, and the wedding itself will be held on June 14.

Roosters
Wingquets

Flowers are great, but wings are better. This year, Roosters is once again returning the Wingquet, which is exactly what it sounds like, a bouquet made entirely of boneless chicken wings. For $69.99, you can have a 24-piece Wingquet delivered to the love of your life. Or whomeever. Did we mention it also comes with cheesecake-filled chocolate covered strawberries from The Cheesecake Girl?

White Castle
Valentine’s Day Dine-In

Once a year, the Columbus-based burger chain White Castle offers an ironic dine-in service that customers can’t get enough of. The experience includes table-side service and even a special Valentine’s Day menu (you can order from their regular menu as well). You can make reservations at participating White Castle locations here, but spots fill up fast.
