Nationally acclaimed German Village restaurant announces unexpected closure

All good things come to an end, but this one still hurts.
Chapman’s Eat Market, the stunning restaurant located in the heart of German Village at 739 S. 3rd St., announced they’ll be closing at the end of August, when their five-year lease is set to expire.

“I’m incredibly proud of Chapman’s story. The team took this space and menu and gave Columbus a passionate, creative experience that is truly one of a kind,” said BJ Lieberman, James Beard semifinalist chef and owner. “We’re looking ahead to these next two months of service as a celebration of the incredible things the team did here.”

The final day of service will be announced in August. The restaurant will remain open for regular service hours, seven days a week through July 12. After that, the restaurant will be open regular service hours, Tuesday-Saturday.
Even though Chapman’s opened in the height of Covid-19 in March 2020, they were able to establish themselves as an incredible restaurant not just in Columbus, but in America. In fact, the New York Times listed Chapman’s as one of the Top 50 Restaurants in America in 2021.
“I sincerely thank our management and staff at Chapman’s for an incredible five-year run at delivering a consistently impressive dining experience, which became a Columbus favorite,” said Lieberman. “It’s rare in this industry you get to write your final chapter from a place of celebration and love.”
