Grocery store chain plans to build new Central Ohio location on 17 vacant acres that previously served as farmland

A new proposal would turn 17 vacant areas in the city of Delaware into a Kroger Marketplace complete with a gas station.
The area, located at the corner of Glenn and Sunbury roads, was previously used as farmland. At a Delaware Planning Commission meeting earlier this month, a request for rezoning the land for Kroger to construct a new building was approved.

While it hasn’t been confirmed exactly what will be in this store if the entire project is approved, most Kroger Marketplace models offer a Murray’s Cheese Shop, a Starbucks, and a wider selection of produce, deli items, baked goods, meat, and seafood, plus a sushi counter, drive-thru pharmacy, and an on-site Fuel Center. The proposal states, “This development type includes entertainment and service uses…The proposed uses, including a fueling station and community-scale retail, align with this development type.”
This would be the third Kroger in or near Delaware. Last year, 614Now reported that a 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace was coming to Powell. Plus, another $38 million Jerome Village Marketplace opened in Plain City last year, as well.
