Highly rated coffee shop, bakery opening second location

Located about 25 minutes from Downtown Columbus stands Pick’em Up Joe Coffee Co. Known for their Cinnamon Roll Saturdays, affogato, and kolaches (filled pastries with Czech roots), the Pickaway County shop has been a local favorite.

Now, the small town coffee joint with almost 100 five star reviews is opening a second location in the heart of Grove City’s historic town center. Coming soon to The Grove City Business Center at 3989 Broadway, the new location of Pick’em Joe will be open by May 2025.

Currently, a sign sits in the window asking passersby to “Please Excuse Our Dust,” as the space prepares for the new location “Coming Soon.”

“We are basically partnering with Grove City and The Business Center. It ticks all our boxes because our main objective is to be a valuable resource for the community, and not just a resource that takes from the community,” said the Thrash family, who owns the shop.

“We’re not restaurateurs, we are just people looking to serve and love people. That’s our whole heart. Loving and serving people right where they’re at. If we can do that through a cup of coffee and pastry, that transforms peoples’ whole day,” the Thrash family added.

Named for the family’s basset hound “Joe,” the original location quickly evolved from a neighborhood coffee trailer into a brick and mortar at 5 Main St Commercial Point. The first location will remain open.

With over 600 people coming in and out of The Grove City Business Center daily, new customers can look forward to a variety of baked goods, coffee and tea drinks, specialty espresso, and lunch options.
