Historic bar addresses closure rumors after car crashed into entrance last September; here’s what we know

After a pickup truck crashed into the entrance of Char Bar last September, the Short North bar, which opened in 1962 at 439 N. High St., was forced to temporarily close.

Five months later, the popular bar has yet to reopen. Their social media has gone quiet, and Google has marked the bar as “permanently closed.” But don’t worry!
While rumors are circulating that the historic & iconic bar is closed for good, Char Bar gave an update: “We are not permanently closing. We understand the Google listing says so and are trying to update it…We are navigating the approval and repair process as quickly as possible, and unfortunately timing for our re-opening is largely out of our control. We hope to have good news in the near future.”
