Local 75 year old ice cream opening another location this spring, marking nine total

A popular shop known for creamy milkshakes and giant scoops of homemade ice cream went decades without opening a second location, sticking to their roots in Bexley.
Now, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream has tripled its Central Ohio footprint in just 12 months, opening three locations in 2024 and three more expected to open in 2025.
Earlier this week, 614Now reported that the Powell location of Buzzed Bull Creamery abruptly closed. But you’ll still be able to get your ice cream fix in that exact same spot – Johnson’s Ice Cream will be opening a 1,300-square-foot store there, located at 50 S. Liberty St.

This marks Johnson’s second Powell location, both of which are expected to open this spring!
“Why just have one scoop of ice cream when you can have two?” said Sean Hughes, city of Powell economic development administrator. “Johnson’s Real Ice Cream’s investment in a second location in downtown Powell is a testament to the strength of Powell’s market. This second location is also an incredible addition to our efforts in revitalizing downtown Powell as an entertainment district centered on creating unique memories of food and fun for the whole family. We thank Johnson’s for being such great new partners and for their continued investment!”
