Local brewery announces permanent closure after a little over 3 years of opening

“Rumors have been going around, and now that the paperwork’s done, we can finally confirm they’re true,” said a local brewery’s social media post.

Walking Distance Brewing first opened in October of 2021 at 222 E. 8th St. in Marysville, creating a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and beer-drinkers of every kind. But they just announced they’ll be permanently closing at the end of the week, on Friday, February 28th.

“This decision didn’t come lightly,” said Walking Distance’s post. “We are so thankful for the community that we built together. And we are confident that the community we’ve built with you will continue to have a positive impact in Marysville.”

They’ll be open three more times, with an event planned every evening. Tonight is Whiskey Wednesday starting at 5:30, and a fully cooked sushi truck will be on grounds, as well as bingo from 7-9 p.m. Tomorrow (Thursday) is Trivia by Teddy from 7-9, and on Friday, they’ll be hosting a goodbye party, but closing up shop probably around 9 p.m.
