Local fried chicken chain abruptly closes two restaurants in two months

In January, a hot chicken chain known for spicy, Nashville-style fried chicken sandwiches and tenders abruptly closed their Lewis Center location.

Hot Chicken Takeover’s Easton location has faced the same fate.

The Easton location first opened in 2017 at 4198 Worth Ave.

Hot Chicken Takeover was founded by Joe DeLoss back in 2014 right here in Columbus, quickly becoming popular enough to be bought out by Untamed Brands in 2021, then again by another huge brand, Craveworthy. Craveworthy also owns Budlong Southern Chicken, and they’re combining the Hot Chicken Takeover and Budlong menus – in other cities & states, the concept will be called Budlong Southern Chicken, but the name Hot Chicken Takeover will remain in Columbus.

Craveworthy has yet to comment on the closing, but Easton has confirmed its closure.
