Local Mexican restaurant & bar appears to have quietly shuttered

A local spot for tacos, margaritas, and patio hangs appears to have closed their doors.

Junior’s Bar & Grill, located at 234 King Ave. right across from The Bottle Shop, hasn’t been open for the past couple of months. While they haven’t posted a statement on social media or their website, Google has marked the location as “Permanently Closed,” their phone has been disconnected, and Yelp has also reported Junior’s as “Closed.”

614Now reached out to Junior’s but received no response. The restaurant served jumbo margs, large platters of authentic Mexican food, and even burgers.

Permits filed in February show that the beloved bar Bier Stube could be moving in here. The owner of the bar (which was forced to close last year when their landlord sold the property) applied to transfer his liquor permit to this location, where Junior’s resides.

Junior’s first started as a taco truck, called Junior’s Tacos, which you can still find at 1080 Gibbard Ave., and opened their first brick & mortar on King Ave. in 2019. The taco truck is known for authentic tacos and burritos if you’d like to give them a try!
