Local sandwich spot hosting cheesesteak eating contest; Winner takes home $1,000

What’s better than eating a giant cheesesteak in a single sitting? How about pocketing a cool $1,000 along the way?

The Submarine House, which operates a storefront in Hilliard, will be hosting a multi-round cheesesteak eating contest across multiple weeks.

The first round of the contest, which will be held at all Submarine House locations from April 29-July 21, will require participants to eat an entire Super Duper Philly Cheesesteak with “The Works” in under 16 minutes. The ten contestants with the fastest times from each location (they will again eat a 16-inch cheesesteak) will move on to the Semi-Finals, which will be held July 22-July 29.

The top times from each store will move on to the Finals, where contestants will again eat a 16-inch sandwich (that’s three, if you’re keeping score at home). The person who downs the cheesesteak in the fastest time will be crowned the overall winner, and will take home the $1,000 prize.
