Just under an hour from Columbus, the country’s best donut shop is in Ohio, according to ‘USA Today’ vote

The USA Today 10Best Readers Choice awards recently tapped Lion Cub’s Cookies as the second best in the nation, and now the annual accolades have named an Ohio donut shop as the nation’s best. 

This year, Donald’s Donuts in Zanesville was named the country’s best donut shop.

The USA Today 10Best Readers Choice awards begin with a list of 20 finalists that experts select, and fan voting narrows the pool of 20 down to 10. These 10 are then ranked in order from most to fewest votes.

City Donut in Orange Beach, Alabama took the second spot behind Donald’s Donuts.

Here’s what USA Today had to say about the donut shop:

“Donald’s Donuts in Zanesville, Ohio, has been making mouth-watering donuts since 1960. Some are baked, others raised and then fried, and they mostly cost around $1 per donut. Try the famous apple fritter, but don’t miss the classic glazed or the chocolate jelly donuts, either.”
