Longstanding Columbus grocery store gets new owners and will undergo name change

Don’t be surprised if you head to your favorite grocery store for some local cheese and find that it’s called something completely different.

Starting March 1, The Hills Market Downtown, located at 95 N. Grant Ave., will operate under the new name, Charmy’s Market. Sherry and Rezi Bayegan, who have led Hills Market Downtown’s kitchen and catering services under the name Charmy’s Persian Taste since 2019, is taking over all store management and operations, hence the name change.

According to a press release, this change will allow The Hills Market team to focus on their operations at their Worthington Hills location.

“This transition marks a significant milestone for Charmy’s, an LGBTQ, minority, and women-owned business led by Sherry and Rezi Bayegan,” said the press release. “The Bayegans, who immigrated to Ohio from Tehran due to threats of persecution, bring a wealth of experience and passion to this endeavor.”

The Bayegans were former restaurant owners in Tehran and have long dreamed of owning their own brick-and-mortar space in Columbus.

“Rezi and I are incredibly grateful and excited for this opportunity and the support we’ve received from the community and The Hills Market team,” shared Bayegan. “With the energy and growth happening downtown, we’re excited to build on the momentum created by The Hills Market Downtown, and we are committed to making Charmy’s Market a go-to destination for residents, visitors, and those working in the area. We look to expand the offerings of the Market, with continued high-quality kitchen and catering options, locally sourced meats, Amish produce, an increased variety of groceries, including international selections, and culinary events for customers of all ages.”

Rezi & Sherry, the new owners of The Hills Market Downtown, will change to Charmy’s Market, effective March 1

Hills Market gift cards will only be accepted until February 28th at the Downtown location, but you can still use them anytime at their Worthington location!
