Longtime mom-and-pop Italian restaurant closes

“We will miss making the sauce, the meatballs, and all your traditional Italian favorites that brought comfort and joy to your tables,” said this longtime Italian restaurant on Facebook.

Monte Carlo Italian Kitchen, located at 345 W. Olentangy St. in Powell, closed in late May. The Italian restaurant first opened in the ‘70s on Cleveland Ave., closing in the late ‘90s, but then resurfaced in Westerville on Schrock Road shortly after. They expanded a second location out to Powell.

Now, both locations are permanently closed. The Westerville location closed quietly and abruptly in late 2023.

“Thank you for supporting our small, mom-and-pop Italian restaurant—through COVID, through the ups and downs, and through all the years. We aren’t sure yet what the future holds, but we do know that this journey has been unforgettable. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts,” they said on Facebook.
