National travel destination says the biscuits & gravy from this Cbus diner are ‘out of this world delicious’

There’s a reason there’s a line out of the door at this 44-year-old diner almost every morning.
Sure, it’s very tiny inside – but also, their biscuits and gravy are “out of this world delicious,” according to the national travel guide, Family Destinations.
German Village Coffee Shop first opened in 1981 on the corner of Thurman and Jaeger, and although the name suggests they serve vanilla lattes and cappuccinos here, that couldn’t be further than the truth. They do serve drip coffee, but they specialize in diner food – pancakes, bacon, eggs, cheesy hash browns – and yes, buttermilk biscuits smothered in a homemade gravy.

“They’re the kind of biscuits that make you wonder if there’s some sort of biscuit sorcery going on in the kitchen,” said Family Destinations. “And the gravy? Well, let’s just say it’s not for the faint of heart or the calorie-conscious. This is a thick, creamy, peppery concoction that blankets those heavenly biscuits like a warm, savory hug.”

You can snag some for yourself at 193 Thurman Ave., Tuesday through Saturday, 7am-2pm, and Sundays 8am-2pm.
