National travel guide says Ohio’s best sandwich is ‘hiding’ inside this ‘unassuming’ grocery store
A grocery store on the West side of Columbus is not only offering delicious cakes, fresh produce, and elusive candy, but apparently, the best sandwich in Ohio, too.
Family Destinations Guide, a national travel guide, says that La Plaza Tapatia, located at 255 Georgesville Rd., has a “torta selection that could make a grown person weep with joy,” serving the best sandwiches in Ohio.
“These aren’t your standard submarine sandwiches dressed up with a fancy name,” said the guide. “These are legitimate, authentic Mexican tortas built on telera rolls that have that perfect crusty-outside, pillowy-inside texture that makes you wonder why every sandwich isn’t made this way.”

They specifically honored The Cubana, with layers of ham, pork, cheese, and pickled jalapeños, as well as The Milanesa, with a breaded cutlet and creamy avocado.
The grocery store also has a buffet-style hot bar with delicious deli sides and Mexican delicacies to pair with your sandwich.
