National travel guide says these are the best diners in Columbus

Sav McKee

Maybe you have family visiting you in town this summer and you’re already brainstorming cool spots to take them, or you’re just looking for a new spot for sizzling bacon and bottomless coffee.

Fortunately, the national travel guide called Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives Near Me has laid out the best diners in Columbus, from classic joints that make flapjacks right in front of you, to even more elevated breakfast restaurants that focus on farm-to-table meals.

Here’s DDD Near Me’s rundown of the best diners in the Columbus area:

16. Skillet
410 E. Whittier St.
This breakfast staple has been serving farmhouse staples all made with season ingredients, which means the menus change often. What you had last weekend will probably be different than the next!

15. Stav’s Diner
2932 E. Broad St.
The quintessential breakfast diner, with bar seats, a quaint dining room, and a large menu of eggs, toast, bacon, and hashbrown combos.

14. Sunny Street Cafe

Cinnamon roll pancakes and bottomless coffee? Yes please. This chin started right in town, and its popularity has led it to grow throughout Central Ohio.

13. Westerville Grill
59 S. State St.
This old-school diner still has its original checkered floors and serves breakfast all day everyday (along with delicious lunch classics!). The ‘50s-era artwork takes you back in time.

12. Tee Jaye’s Country Place
Multiple Locations
Two words: Barnyard Buster. Get it and thank us later.

11. Fitzy’s Old Fashioned Diner
1487 Schrock Rd.
This small, family-owned diner takes pride in cooking up food “the old fashioned way,” made to order. Try the “Kitchen Sink Challenge” – 6 egg Western Omelet, 6 strips of bacon, 6 sausage links, 2 grande pancakes, and 1lb of home fries. If you eat it all in 30 minutes, it’s free, and your picture goes on their wall of fame! And if you don’t, well, you’re left with a really full belly and $32 less.

Sometimes, the best diners are in an unassuming strip mall. 3 Brothers serves classics like fluffy pancakes, but also Mexican cuisine such as chilaquiles and huevos rancheros.

Since 1991, Linworth Diner has been serving everyone’s favorite gyro omelets and fluffy cakes.

Originally known for being a “Donut Kitchen,” DK Diner has expanded their offerings to include huge breakfast sandwiches and hashes.

6. Cap City Fine Diner & Bar

While the Cameron Mitchell restaurant is mostly known for their upscale “diner” dinner, like meatloaf, Cap City also serves weekend brunch including bananas foster french toast and quiche.

5. Jack and Benny’s
2563 N. High St.
The ultimate greasy spoon, serving all-day breakfast, and home of the famous “Gutbuster” (1 hash browns, 1 potato pancake, 1 bacon, 1 ham, 1 egg, 1 sausage patty & cheese; all stacked & topped with country gravy & toast).

This classic diner boasts a Cuban flair, with Cuban French Toast, Machaca, and a Mofongo Omelet, but also serves breakfast favorites like omelettes and pancakes.

Yup, they absolutely do serve a donut bacon burger, if you were wondering. They also serve an array of homemade donuts and delicious breakfast platters.

2. German Village Coffee Shop
Despite its name, this is more of a diner than an actual coffee shop. There are only a couple of seats inside, but believe us when we say the wait is worth it.

1. Tommy’s Diner
Is anyone even surprised that this legendary diner is DDD Near Me’s first pick?
