Nearly 50 year old Columbus staple abruptly shuttered and sold to local burger restaurant

A restaurant that helped fuel many college students on their late nights “studying” has abruptly closed their doors.

Apollo’s Greek Kitchen, the nearly 50 year old restaurant located at 1758 N. High St., will no longer be serving up greasy gyros and fries well past midnight.

A representative for Apollo’s could not be reached about the decision to close, but the local real estate company Sokol & Associates posted on Facebook that they just sold the building to John Watson and Michael Will, who own Burger Royale, a Pulp Fiction themed burger joint. They started as a food truck, then opened in Buddy Dairy Food Hall last year, and now, their first brick & mortar shop is coming soon inside of the former Apollo’s.
