New eight-vendor food hall announced

A new food hall is likely on its way to Downtown Mount Vernon.
According to a press release from the Knox County Land Bank, the group has secured the initial funding required to bring a food hall to the former Mount Vernon News building, which is located at 18 E. Vine St.
Named Founders Food Hall, the new space will feature eight independent kitchens, and a full bar, and will act as a culinary incubator to local chefs while providing more dining options for the area.

“Founders Food Hall will bring new energy and foot traffic to downtown Mount Vernon, creating a hub of culinary innovation and community gathering,” Sam Filkins, vice president for the Knox County Land Bank, said in a press release. “This project will not only allow restaurateurs to launch and grow their businesses, but it will also provide residents and visitors with an exciting, ever-changing dining experience.”
Vendors for the space have not yet been announced. Construction is currently underway, and Founders Food Hall is slated to open in September.
