New fried chicken concept opens inside of a former school bus
A brand-new fried chicken concept opened its doors in Columbus, and we’re not entirely sure how to classify the new eatery.
The concept, called Frybird, operates out of a repurposed—and repainted—former school bus. So is it still a food truck? Is it a food bus?
Frankly, we don’t know what to call it. And we don’t really care.

Frybird, which is halal, offers wings, tenders, nuggets and fried chicken meals, in addition to a number of cheesesteak-inspired sandwiches. It also serves Walking Nachos, which combine beef, cheese sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapeños and sour cream inside of a bag of Doritos.
The new eatery officially opened last month, and is regularly parked at 3940 E. Main St. in Whitehall. It also offers DoorDash delivery.
Frybird is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
