New restaurant opening Downtown serves as training grounds for aspiring chefs

Talk to any chef around town, and you’ll find that their knowledge comes from experience in the kitchen. Sure, many of the prominent chefs in Columbus are classically trained at expensive culinary schools, but they credit their growth to the restaurants they worked in.
The Line, the new restaurant coming to Downtown, aims to create a space for aspiring chefs to advance their careers, but without the student debt that comes with traditional culinary training. It will be opening late this year at 145 N. Grant Ave.

The concept will function as both a full-service restaurant and a hands-on training ground for service industry workers, where they’ll learn real-world skills, foster long-term career growth, and feel empowered without having to dish out the big bucks in order to do so.
Along with a restaurant, The Line will feature a multi-use library, event venue, a Chef’s Table, community-facing windows into the kitchen, and a historic design by Compton Construction and Grad & Co.
