‘Next Gen’ version of popular international burger chain opens in former East Side Bob Evans
A new version of an old favorite has opened in Whitehall.
A ‘Global Next Gen’ Wendy’s officially opened its doors at 3988 E. Broad St. this summer, according to Whitehall economic development specialist Lara Jones.
The new Wendy’s location opts for artificial intelligence software at the eatery’s drive-thru window, separate parking and pick-up for delivery drivers and more.

According to a Whitehall City Council meeting from last year when the concept was proposed, the new Wendy’s is company-owned, rather than franchise-owned, which is true for less than 10 percent of the burger chain’s locations.
The ‘Global Next Gen’ Wendy’s took over the home of the former Whitehall Bob Evans, which closed last year. Another Whitehall Wendy’s, located at 3747 E. Broad St., less than a half mile from the new eatery, shuttered in June of 2024.
