One of Central Ohio’s oldest ice cream shops is opening another location
It’s been quite a year for one of Columbus’ oldest ice cream shops.
Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, founded in 1950 in Bexley, has tripled the number of locations in the past two years, with three new scoop shops opening this year alone. And now, they just announced another one on the way.
The ice cream shop is expanding to Lewis Center in Spring of 2026, opening at 5915 Evans Farm Drive in the Evans Farm community. The Lewis Center shop will feature Johnson’s vast lineup of classic and seasonal ice cream flavors, signature sundaes, ice cream cakes, novelties and grab-and-go pints.

“Expanding with our new Lewis Center location is a natural next step for us,” explained Matt Wilcoxon, fourth-generation owner of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream. “We’re excited to be part of the Evans Farm community and to create another neighborhood spot where people can slow down, connect and enjoy really good ice cream together—whether they’re visiting the shop or bringing Johnson’s to their own celebrations.”
