Owner of District West launching new LGBTQIA+ restaurant and bar concept in the Short North

An exciting new concept has been tapped to replace Bristol Republic in the Short North.
Black Sheep Kitchen & Spirits, a new restaurant and bar backed by Brian Swanson (the owner of Bodega, Bristol Republic and Worthington Tavern), is slated to open this summer, although an exact date hasn’t been announced. It will take over the former home of Bristol Republic, which was located at 1124 N. High St.
In March, it was announced that Bristol Republic is relocating to Bridge Park, where it will likely open later this year.

The new eatery will be spearheaded by Misty Linn, the owner of District West, in collaboration with the West family, and will be “owned and operated by LGBTQIA+ voices and unapologetically rooted in community,” according to a press release.
“Our vision for Black Sheep is to create a space that feels familiar but special—somewhere people can come for great food, strong drinks, and a real sense of community,” Linn said in a press release. “It’s a place where individuality is celebrated and everyone feels at home—and where you never know what kind of unforgettable experience you’ll walk into.”
The Short North spot will offer classic brunch, lunch and dinner options with a “chef-driven twist.” It will also feature craft cocktails, live entertainment, DJs and even the occasional visit from the West family.
