Patio season has arrived! 614 feast names his 5 favorite outdoor dining spots

Patio season in Columbus is one of my favorite times of year. There’s just something about eating and drinking al fresco, whether you’re people-watching on a busy street, tucked behind a cozy restaurant, relaxing in a hidden courtyard, or soaking it all in from a rooftop. (Though rooftops deserve their own story.) Here are five of my favorite patios around the city, perfect for your next open-air feast.
Understory (2571 Neil Ave) Speaking of an open-air feast, this spot is located inside Open Air Columbus. The patio is surrounded by the Olentangy Trail, so it feels like you’re having the best picnic of your life. Start with the Strawberry Burrata Salad and go for the Understory Burger as your main.
The Olde Towne Tavern (889 Oak St) Olde and Towne are both spelled with an “e,” so you know you’re in for something traditional. Their charming brick patio has a laid back and casual vibe. I recommend starting with the Soft Pretzels and building your own Baked Potato for the main event.

Seventh Son Brewing Co. (1101 N 4th St) You get two patios here: a huge patio in the back and a smaller one up front. They’ve also got a top-tier rotating lineup of food trucks. Check their website to see which one is parked for the day and go enjoy some beer and bites.
Lindey’s (169 E Beck St) One of the best restaurants in Columbus, period. The dining room is gorgeous, but their first-come, first-served patio is an icon of its own. Order the Ahi Tuna Tartare to start and follow it up with the NY Strip. A steak dinner outside here is one of the best experiences in town.
Katalina’s (Multiple) Every inch of this place is photo-worthy, inside and out. I love that the patio tables are written on by past guests, and they put out a solid lineup of hot sauces too. You’ve gotta start with Katalina’s Original Pancake Balls and the Nutella-stuffed is my go to. After that sweet start grab the Mazatlan Slow Roasted Pork & Egg Sandwich.
Eating outside just hits different. If I missed your favorite patio, comment and let me know where to go next.
