Popular Columbus sandwich shop coming to Italian Village

Jack McLaughlin

A veteran of the Columbus culinary scene is taking his talents to Italian Village. For the second time.

McGinnis’ Grill, the popular sandwich concept operating out of a food truck—and owned by longtime Columbus chef John McGinnis—is slated open next month at Budd Dairy Food Hall, although an exact date has not been announced.

Last June, McGinnis Grill opened in the Hatch space at Budd Dairy—the food hall’s temporary, rotating kitchen—where it operated for several months. This time, the sandwich shop will return as a permanent vendor, taking over the space formerly occupied by Poke Bap.

According to McGinnis, the eatery plans to roll out smash burgers, its popular brisket sandwich and fries.

“We had such an awesome experience working in the Hatch kitchen last summer and always love trying out new flavors, so bringing burgers to Budd Dairy is going to be an exciting experience,” McGinnis said.
