Popular cookie concept to ‘close’ and temporarily relocate to retirement community in ‘call for connection’
There’s one thing that can usually help cure the loneliness blues: a really good cookie.
And Brad Kaplan, owner of Lion Cub’s Cookies, knows that.
In an effort to connect and combat loneliness in the retired age groups, Lion Cub’s will be temporarily “closing” and relocating to Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber, a local retirement community, in hopes to encourage warm moments between strangers over something as simple as freshly baked cookies. Kaplan is hoping that ahead of Loneliness Awareness Week, people are able to connect and communicate.

On Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., instead of grabbing cookies at their Grandview or Worthington location, head on over to the retirement home and strike up a conversation with someone who might be feeling particularly lonely. Older adults are especially impacted, and patrons will be able to sit and share a moment with a resident, which could make their day.
Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber is located at 717 Neil Ave. in case you want to visit!
