‘POV: Your parents opened a restaurant & no one is here’ – viral TikTok helps new Mexican breakfast cafe surge in popularity
Say what you will about TikTok and social media, but thanks to a daughter’s viral TikTok video, her parents have a line out of the door at their new Mexican breakfast restaurant.
“POV: Your parents opened a restaurant & no one is here,” said the 8 second video, while showing a completely empty restaurant last week. The video garnered over a million views, 113k+ likes, over 3k comments, and is being shared throughout Columbus food groups on Facebook and Instagram.

Thanks to the videos @lrandi is posting on her social media, the restaurant, Orale Guey Mexican Cafe, is now packed. People in Central Ohio are flocking to one of the only spots in the city that serves authentic Mexican breakfast food, such as chilaquiles, Mexican benedicts, huevos al gusto, breakfast tortas, and so much more (even omelettes and pancakes and Mexican coffee!).

The Facebook group Columbus Foodies posted the video, and in true Columbus fashion, the community showed up for the newly established restaurant. One member of the group, Bill Black, visited the restaurant and said, “Went this A.M. Had a chance to talk to ‘em and they are passionate about introducing Columbus to ‘Mexican Breakfast’. Everything was on point. Green chilaquiles had some kick! Loved it.” Another member, Kelly Elder, said, “So after seeing the TikTok video…my son and I stopped by Orale Guey breakfast/brunch cafe. They got an unexpected rush today, so service was a little delayed. HOWEVER, it was absolutely worth the wait! I got the breakfast burrito which also came with a bowl of fresh fruit and I added a side of avocado. My son got the chicken torta which is bigger than the picture gives justice for. He could barely finish it and he’s a big guy. Customer service was wonderful…”
Orale Guey Mexican Cafe recently opened where Zorba’s Diner used to be, at 3415 E. Broad St. They’re currently open 7am-3pm for breakfast and lunch, but their surge in popularity is allowing them to possibly open for dinner and drinks soon, too.
