Prominent steakhouse backs out of planned Columbus location
Last year, we learned that a popular steakhouse was making a comeback in Columbus after closing their sole Columbus location at Easton.
Smith & Wollensky announced they’d be taking over the first-floor space at the Hyatt Regency Columbus Hotel, located at 350 N. High St.
Not to be the bearer of bad news, but those plans have now been suspended.

“Smith & Wollensky has made the difficult decision to suspend our planned return to Columbus as we shift our focus to support our international expansion and strategic growth opportunities. Recently, we opened a new location in Manila, Philippines, and have upcoming openings planned in Tokyo, Japan, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Domestically, we continue to invest in our restaurants in Boston, Miami, Las Vegas, and Chicago,” the steakhouse told 614Now.
The steakhouse was supposed to open their new Columbus location this year. Renderings showed a fully renovated, luxury dining room, complete with an expansive patio fronting High St.
“We are deeply grateful to our dedicated team and the loyal guests who supported our Columbus location over the years. Thank you for being part of our journey—we hope to welcome you at one of our other locations soon,” the company said.
