Ray Ray’s Hog Pit opening new location next week

The hog pit continues to expand.

Only several months after famed Columbus barbecue spot Ray Ray’s Hog Pit announced the grand opening of its brick and mortar Clintonville eatery, it announced that its new eatery in Johnsontown is set to launch later this month.

“Johnstown. Can you smell the smoke? We’re getting the pits ready. Doors open August 19 — bring your appetite,” the concept shared in a social media post yesterday.

The new Ray Ray’s, which is another full-service restaurant like the concept’s Clintonville eatery, and this one will also include a bar. It’s located at 49 ½ E. Main St., in the former home of Ghostwriter Public House, which closed in February.

“This full-service restaurant and bar brings with it not just barbecue, but a mood – the weight of slow smoke in the air, the hum of a dining room alive with conversation, the invitation to sit down, stay a while, and taste something unmistakably Ohio,” Ray Ray’s said of the new location when it was announced earlier this summer.
