RECALL ALERT: produce sold at Central Ohio grocery stores recalled for listeria contamination

Sav McKee

Well, this isn’t so peachy.

A nationwide recall has been issued for peaches sold at major grocery stores nationwide, including here in Central Ohio, such as Walmart, Kroger, Target and Trader Joe’s.

These peaches, produced by Moonlight Companies in California, may be contaminated with Listeria, which can cause serious symptoms, including death, to children, the elderly, and those who are pregnant or immune compromised.

Listeria was found in the peaches’ packing facility last week.

Kroger announced on their website that these peaches were specifically sold at stores in Central Ohio, as well as Dayton, and Northwest and Southwest, OH. Along with the peaches recalled, Kroger is also recalling Snowfruit Peach Salsa and Supreme Produce Peach Salsa.

Trader Joe’s also announced that these peaches were sold in their Ohio stores, and unfortunately, so did Walmart and Target.

Please check the product description by visiting the FDA, which tells you the exact packaging type and PLU/UPC that has been recalled. If any of your produce matches these descriptions, please throw them away immediately.
