Short North restaurant abruptly closes, says ‘Times are tough right now’
If you were planning to warm up with some ramen on this chilly day, don’t head to Mecha Noodle Bar, for a sign on their door shows they’ve abruptly closed as of yesterday, December 18th.
“Times are tough right now for restaurants everywhere,” the posted sign reads, “and despite our best efforts, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to close our doors here in Columbus.”

Mecha Noodle Bar opened in April of 2024, instantly becoming a hit for their steaming bowls of ramen and pho made with scratch broths that simmer all day, hand-rolled dumplings, and pillowy bao.
“We really, really loved our time in this city and are so grateful to everyone who came in for a bowl of ramen, a bao bun, or one of our cocktails,” says the sign.
This was the only Mecha Noodle Bar in Ohio, but there are locations in other states on the East Coast. 614Now reached out to Mecha for a statement but has yet to hear back.
