Travel guide releases book featuring Columbus’ best dive bars, and here’s who ranked number one on their list

What better way to spend a cold January evening than at Columbus’ best dive bar, playing pool and eating one of the most underrated burgers in town? And if going out in the dread of winter isn’t necessarily your thing, you can at least sit at home and read about Columbus’ dive bar scene.
Scoundrel’s Field Guide recently released their first book outlining Columbus’ incredible dive bars, and they named Johnnie’s Glenn Avenue Grill as number one. Johnnie’s received a perfect score on their ranking system, and they call it the “King of Columbus Dive Bars.”

“Decades of decorations, vintage liquor bottles, and even freely provided kitchen cheeseballs create an entirely unique, unpretentious and inviting dive bar experience,” said Scoundrel’s. It’s been around since 1934 in one form or another.
Things to note before visiting the bar this weekend (located at 1491 Glenn Ave, by the way): it’s still cash-only.

In their newly released travel guide, Scoundrel’s Field Guide: Columbus Dive Bars, Columbus’ most under-the-radar bars are highlighted. Along with Johnnie’s Glenn Ave Grill, the book also features longtime favorites like Lisska Bar & Grill and Ruckmoor Lounge, and thirty other elusive spots with the coolest vibes.
