Travel guide says the fish & chips from this 25+ year old Cbus restaurant are ‘to die for’

Ohio sits hundreds of miles away from any sea, but there’s a restaurant in town that’s reminiscent of a North Carolina beach snack that apparently serves fish & chips that “are to die for,” according to a national travel publication.

Family Destinations said that the restaurant Marino’s Seafood proves “that sometimes the best culinary treasures aren’t hiding in fancy neighborhoods or behind expensive facades – they’re right there in plain sight.” The 26 year old restaurant serves a simple menu of lightly battered and deep-fried “Calabash” style fish, served with thick-cut fries and sweet hushpuppies.

Marino’s also offers classics like clam chowder, fish-on-a-bun, oysters, crab cakes, and popcorn shrimp, but Family Destinations specifically says the fish & chips are a must. “Bite through that crispy exterior, and you’re rewarded with fish so tender and flaky it practically melts on your tongue,” the travel guide said. “The contrast between the crunch of the coating and the delicate texture of the cod creates a textural symphony that makes each bite more satisfying than the last. Perhaps most impressively, the fish tastes clean and fresh – no hint of that “fishiness” that makes seafood skeptics wrinkle their noses.”

If you want to taste for yourself, visit Marino’s Seafood at 1216 West 5th Avenue. Look for the vintage yellow sign that proudly says, “Fish & Chips.”
