Turns out, the best steak in the country is right here in a spot that’s been serving cafeteria-style entrees for decades.

According to Family Destinations Guide, York Steak House, located at 4220 W. Broad St., makes “even the most sophisticated carnivore weak at the knees.” They said it has the best steaks in the United States.

Sure, the cafeteria-style restaurant might not be your top choice for a sirloin…but Family Destinations is questioning – why not?

“The star of the show is undoubtedly the sirloin steak – a perfectly seasoned cut that arrives at your table with those coveted grill marks and a juiciness that makes each bite a small celebration,” said Family Destinations. “The ribeye offers a more marbled experience for those who prefer their beef with extra flavor, while the chopped steak satisfies those looking for something a bit different.”

York Steak House was a chain of restaurants that first opened in the 60s. At one time, there were 180 other restaurants across the nation, mostly inside popular malls. But when food courts became popular in the 80s, York’s sales declined, and most locations were discontinued and eventually all closed. Except for one, of course, still standing in Columbus. You’ll still find the old-school charm, the sirloin steaks, and the salad bar that first made York’s so popular way back when, even now with its new owner.
