Trendy Texas-based slice shop coming to Columbus

It’s time for Columbus pizza lovers to take a victory lap.

A new pizza concept is set to open soon inside of Victory Lap, a vintage-inspired Buckeyes bar that opened at the beginning of the 2025 college football season.

Side Piece Pies is slated to open soon, and it will take over the Victory Lap Kitchen when it launches, although an opening date hasn’t been announced yet.

Like Victory Lap, Side Piece Pies began in Austin, Texas (with the first opening on Aug. 29 of this year) before coming to Columbus. 

While the Columbus menu hasn’t been released yet, the original Side Piece Pies in Austin operates as a New York-style pizza shop, offering a concise menu of pies by the slice. It offers Cheese, Pepperoni, Sausage, White Pie and a Buffalo Wings options.

Side Piece Pies and Victory Lap are located at 222 W. Lane Ave.
