$1 billion data center development buys 136 more acres in New Albany
According to Licking County property records, a newer data center company bought 136 acres in New Albany for $34.4 million.
The data center, EdgeConneX, is developing a $1 billion data center complex already, about five miles away from the new parcels they bought, located at Johnstown-Utica and Green Chapel roads.

The complex plans to operate multiple data centers, converting existing buildings into 80-megawatt data centers in phase one, and then building two new buildings/data centers in phase two, including a power plant with oudoor, gas-fired generators.
A 216-megawatt power plant was already approved by the Ohio Power Siting Board last Thursday. Many Central Ohioans are concerned about the influx of data centers driving up electricity costs. However, the planned centers won’t be connected to the same power grid as homes, and instead, will be powered through the aforementioned plants.
