295 acres of Central Ohio farmland approved to rezone to high-density residential area, citizens concerned

Some are thrilled, but plenty of others are concerned about almost 300 acres of agricultural land being rezoned to build a new residential area in Groveport.

The Columbus suburb currently has a population of 6,000, and this new Addison Groveport development could bring 2,000 additional residents, according to Groveport City Council meetings.

This new development is conveniently located close to the new weapons-manufacturing plant, which is promising to bring in 4,000 new jobs to the area once they open.

At the Groveport City Council meeting, citizens voiced their concerns of the loss of farmland, possibly more flooding, traffic congestion, plus overcrowding of their already-small local schools, considering levy requests for new buildings have failed.

Construction is set to begin in 2027, with new single-family homes, townhomes, apartments, and a commercial component on the new site.
