After 36 years, beloved North Market business owner retiring at the end of the year

Goodbyes are always hard, but this one has a happy ending.

Marty McGreevy, who’s owned and operated Market Blooms since February 13, 1990 in North Market Downtown, has announced that after 36 years, she’s retiring from the flower business.

“Every moment here has been a kindness,” said McGreevy. “I’m deeply grateful to have been part of North Market for so many years. I’ve seen so much change—wonderful change—and every step of the journey has been exciting and amazing. It feels like the right time, and I’m proud to leave knowing Market Blooms is strong, the team is taken care of, and the transition is in great hands.”

McGreevy is ready to spend more time with family and friends, traveling, playing golf, and embracing a more relaxed lifestyle, she told North Market Downtown in a press release.

Market Blooms has been an integral part of North Market Downtown for decades–and the great news is that it still will be. Starting January 3, 2026, Market Blooms will continue operations under new ownership, but with the same gorgeous bouquets and arrangements we’ve known and loved all of these years. Morgan and Kyle Laberdee will be the new owners.

“I have such great confidence in the new owners,” McGreevy added. “They’re the full package, and I know they’ll honor what Market Blooms has always been.”

Market Blooms will be closed January 1 and 2 to support the transition to the new owners.
