Cable snaps on Ohio amusement park ride, frightening parkgoers
Many people’s worst fear happened Sunday evening.
A cable snapped on a 300-foot-tall vertical tower at Cedar Point, called Power Tower. Parkgoers in line said they heard the cable snap and saw it coming down, which made a huge noise when it hit the ground that sent guests frantically running and screaming. There were riders on the tower during the incident.

A Cedar Point spokesperson said that the safety system worked as intended, and all guests were safe, but The Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Amusement Ride Safety Division is investigating the incident.
